Mohan Babu University celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 with great enthusiasm on June 20th at the Indoor Stadium. The event, held from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, was organized under the inspiring theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The celebration highlighted the importance of yoga as a lifelong practice that nurtures physical fitness, mental peace, and overall well-being.

The program saw a remarkable turnout of 1,050 students from diverse institutions within the university, including the School of Arts, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Public Health, and the Nursing College. Their collective participation reflected MBU’s commitment to holistic education and its efforts to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga among young learners.

Dr. A. Suman Kumar, Physical Director, department of Physical Education, meticulously planned and executed the event. With careful coordination and discipline, the department ensured that the session ran smoothly, creating a memorable experience for everyone present. Faculty members, coordinators, and volunteers worked together to maintain the spirit of the occasion and support the participants throughout the program.

A special highlight of the celebration was the presence of Mr. Suresh Babu, a renowned yoga trainer from the Art of Living, Tirupati. Serving as the chief resource person, he guided the participants with insightful demonstrations and motivational words. He emphasized that yoga is not just exercise but a way of life that harmonizes body, mind, and spirit. His teachings inspired students and faculty alike to adopt yoga as a daily practice.

Demonstrations of  asanas, pranayama, meditation techniques

The session included demonstrations of key asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques suitable for all age groups. Mr. Suresh Babu explained the health benefits of each posture, encouraging participants to focus on proper alignment and breathing. Students followed his instructions with enthusiasm, creating an atmosphere filled with unity, energy, and positivity. Faculty members including Dr. Sujitha, Head of the EEE dept and Dr. Rama Chandra Babu, Asst. Registrar, also joined in demonstrating asanas, motivating students by showing that yoga benefits.
