One-Day IPR Hands-on Training Session on “Orienting Research to Develop Intellectual Property Rights”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the IPR Cell and Idea Lab, MBU, organized a One-Day IPR Hands-on Training Session on “Orienting Research to Develop Intellectual Property Rights” on 15 November 2025 at Valmar Conference Hall. The programme was funded by Idea Lab, MBU, and witnessed the participation of 51 faculty members, research scholars, and students.

The session aimed to create awareness and practical understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and to orient academic research towards innovation, patent filing, and commercialization. The programme covered key areas including patents, copyrights, trademarks, design rights, patentability assessment, prior art search, and basic patent filing procedures.

The resource person for the session was Dr. Sudarkodi Venkatesan, Senior Manager – IPR and TTO, Crescent Innovation and Incubation (CIIC), B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. The expert sessions provided valuable insights into protecting intellectual assets and translating research outcomes into intellectual property.

Hands-on activities, case studies, and interactive discussions enhanced participants’ understanding of IPR processes and encouraged innovation-driven research practices. The programme also highlighted the relevance of IPR in supporting sustainable development and research excellence.

The training session significantly contributed to strengthening the institution’s research and innovation ecosystem by fostering an IPR-conscious academic culture among participants.
