Toward a Tobacco-Free Generation: Empowering Youth through Awareness

June 11

The Nutrition and Diabetic Club of MBU, in collaboration with the MB School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, hosted an event titled “No Tobacco Day” in observance of World No Tobacco Day on 11th June 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM in the department. The event emphasized key themes surrounding tobacco cessation, aiming to educate and inspire budding healthcare professionals to adopt preventive measures.

The event was successfully conducted under the supervision of Faculty Coordinator Dr. V. Hari Krishna with the enthusiastic cooperation of student coordinators. A total of 35 students and 2 faculty members participated in this event. The faculty coordinator inaugurated the session with a compelling address, setting the tone for a series of enlightening discussions.

The program helped the participants to take the lead in teaching others about the dangers of tobacco. They used fun and hands-on activities like acting out real-life situations and discussing stories to understand how tobacco habits form and how to make smart choices. The presenters shared tips to quit tobacco, like keeping track of habits, spotting triggers, setting goals, and creating smoke-free places with community support. They also learned about medicines that help people stop using tobacco, like nicotine patches and new treatments like buprenorphine, along with the importance of mental support and encouragement from others. They also understood how tobacco harms not just health—causing heart disease and cancer—but also affects families and the country’s economy. The session ended with students sharing their ideas on how working together can help everyone live healthier lives.

The session concluded with an open forum, encouraging students to share views and pledge their support for a tobacco-free future.
