Herbs Around Us: Exploratory Visit to MBU’s Herbal Garden

The Science Club organized an exploratory visit titled “Herbs Around Us” on 19 August 2026 at Mohan Babu University. The event aimed to provide students with practical exposure to medicinal and aromatic plants in the herbal garden. It encouraged students to connect classroom learning with real-world plant resources and understand their ecological importance.
Identifying Herbs with Careful Observation
Vasiha Anjum, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event with guidance from Dr. Radha Yadamuri. A total of 25 students from B.Sc. Biotechnology and B.Sc. Microbiology actively participated in the visit. Students explored the herbal garden and identified selected plants with careful observation. They studied botanical characteristics, traditional uses, medicinal significance, and ecological roles of the plants. The activity highlighted the importance of medicinal plant diversity and sustainable utilization of herbal resources. It also emphasized the role of plants in human health and environmental sustainability.
Takeaways and Feedback
Students gained practical skills in plant identification, documentation, and observation. They enhanced their knowledge of medicinal plants and their traditional applications. Participants appreciated the opportunity to learn outside the classroom through experiential methods.
