In observance of World Earth Day, the Tree Appreciation Club, School of Agriculture at MBU organized a vibrant celebration cantered on the theme “Preserving Nature, Protecting the Future” from 11.00 AM to 1.00 PM on 22nd April in the department. This annual event served as a crucial platform to promote environmental protection and sustainability while inspiring students to take an active role in conservation efforts.
The event was coordinated by the faculty coordinator, Mr. K. Mallikarjun, Asst. Professor, School of Agricultural Sciences, with participation from 130 students who engaged in various activities designed to enhance environmental awareness. To kick off the celebration, a painting competition was conducted, where 20 enthusiastic students from department t showcased their artistic talents, translating their eco-friendly ideas into beautiful paintings. The artwork reflected themes of biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable living, emphasizing the importance of environmental responsibility.
Following the drawing competition, students took part in interactive discussions and presentations focused on conservation strategies, climate action, and ways to integrate sustainability into daily life. The faculty members shared their valuable insights on the impact of deforestation, pollution, and climate change, encouraging students to adopt eco-conscious habits.
In addition to these activities, students delivered presentations highlighting the urgent need to protect our Mother Planet, advocating waste segregation, recycling, and sustainable agricultural practices. They pledged to incorporate greener choices into their lifestyles, vowing to reduce their carbon footprint and conserve natural resources.
The celebration successfully fostered a spirit of environmental consciousness, reinforcing the vital role of youth in building a sustainable future. Through creativity, discussion, and action, the event empowered students to become advocates for nature, ensuring that Earth Day’s message extends beyond a single day into year-round efforts for a healthier planet.
