Breaking Barriers: Autism Awareness for Future Healthcare Leaders

April 2

The Pharma Club of Mohan Babu University organized an awareness seminar on autism under the theme “Stories of Change” on 2nd April, 2025, from 9.00 A.M. to 10.00 A.M. at Room No. 4118 in the New Academic Block. The seminar aimed to raise awareness and foster understanding  among future healthcare professionals.

The seminar witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 50 students, who actively engaged in the discussion and clarified their doubts about autism. The seminar was conducted by a Pharm.D. program student, emphasizing the importance of increasing public awareness on autism. He delivered an insightful presentation on autism to Pharm.D. students. The session covered the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and management strategies for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a neurological developmental disorder affects communication, behavior, and social interaction.

This initiative not only enriched the participants’ knowledge but also played a significant role in enhancing the presenter’s interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and ability to communicate complex medical topics effectively.

By engaging with peers and facilitating discussions, the students develop interactive capabilities, leadership qualities, and a deeper sense of empathy and responsibility toward patients with special needs. Such awareness programs are essential in preparing pharmacy students to deliver inclusive and compassionate care in their future professional roles.

This seminar proved to be a valuable learning experience for all attendees. It not only enhanced their knowledge but also their sympathy toward the people affected with autism disease. The club extended its gratitude to the speaker, faculty coordinators, and participants for making the event a success.
