The Automotive Club of Mohan Babu University organized a seminar titled, “SAE Baja Vehicle Design” on 21st February 2025 from 10 A.M to 11.45 A.M at the CAD Lab. The seminar aimed to educate students about the design and engineering principles involved in developing off-road vehicles for SAE Baja competitions.
The session was conducted by Mr. Mohith and Mr. Aman, third-year mechanical engineering students, who shared their knowledge and expertise on SAE Baja Vehicle Design. The seminar witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 60 students, who actively engaged in the discussion and clarified their doubts regarding vehicle design and competition strategies. The interactive session provided a deeper understanding of the challenges faced during the Baja competition and ways to overcome them. The students provided a detailed overview of the entire process of designing, building, and racing off-road vehicles that can withstand extreme terrains.
The seminar covered the following key aspects: Introduction to SAE Baja: A brief overview of the competition and its significance in the field of automotive engineering. Vehicle Design Principles: Explanation of the design process, including aerodynamics, suspension, drivetrain, and chassis structure. Component Engineering: Detailed discussion on various components such as transmission, braking system, tires, and material selection. Competition Rules and Regulations: Insight into the essential guidelines that need to be followed during the competition. Phases of the Competition: Breakdown of different phases such as virtual design presentation, technical inspection, dynamic events, endurance race, and final evaluation.
The SAE Baja Vehicle Design seminar proved to be a valuable learning experience for all attendees. It not only enhanced their technical knowledge but also inspired them to explore opportunities in the field of automotive engineering.
