The IETE Student Forum of MBU organized an exciting technical event, “Syntax Stars: Virtual Coding Minds,” on 24 July 2025 in Room No. 317 (West Block). Syntax Stars, the two-hour contest, was designed to challenge and celebrate the analytical prowess of C programming enthusiasts across the university.
Dr. T. V. V. Satyanarayana, Professor, ECE, Coordinated this activity with the support of student club coordinators. Nearly 25 students participated in this competition. The event featured two rounds, each crafted to test participants’ coding accuracy, optimization skills, and time-bound decision-making.
In Round 1 of the Class Room Challenge, participants were presented with projected C code snippets containing syntax errors. Within a strict time frame, they had to identify and document these errors on official answer sheets. This round emphasized precision, speed, and a deep understanding of C syntax.
In Round 2 of the Code Reduction Challenge, the shortlisted contestants tackled three coding problems via Google Forms, aiming to produce correct outputs using the fewest lines of code possible. Conducted in a controlled lab environment, this round allowed only a single attempt per question, with no access to external resources. Judging criteria focused on correctness and efficiency, rewarding those who could think critically and code concisely.
Both rounds were conducted under real-time supervision, with structured timing and strict isolation protocols to ensure fairness, transparency and equal opportunity for all participants. This technical event proved to be a dynamic platform for aspiring coders to demonstrate their technical acumen, problem-solving skills, and coding discipline. The event was appreciated for its meticulous organization and its role in fostering a competitive yet collaborative spirit among students passionate about programming.
