Press Statement from Pro-Chancellor, MBU

This public notice is issued to address the recent news reports circulating in various media channels regarding some recommendations made by the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Regulatory & Monitoring Commission (APHERMC) against Mohan Babu University. Mohan Babu University stands firm against these recommendations.

Please take note that the same are in the nature of recommendations only and said recommendations are currently sub-judice before the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh. The High Court, after considering the matter, has been pleased to pass a stay order in favour of the University against the said recommendations of the APHERMC.

Mohan Babu University firmly believes that the recommendations passed by the APHERMC is incorrect and is confident that the Hon’ble High Court, which is seized of the matter, will render justice.

It is also observed that selective information is being circulated in the media to flare up the issue and portray the University in a negative light. We urge the public, media, and all our stakeholders to not be misled by any unverified reports.

Mohan Babu University today stands among India’s top educational institutions, transforming Rayalaseema into a recognized hub of higher learning. Over the last several years, MBU has consistently achieved the highest student placements and pay packages for students in Andhra Pradesh, a record unmatched by many public or private universities in the country.

From its inception under the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust in 1992, the University has upheld a strong social commitment — providing free education to many, offering full scholarships to children of armed forces and police personnel, and adopting orphans for complete education and care. Our contributions to education and social welfare are matters of public record, yet such efforts are repeatedly overlooked by those driven by other motives.

Our academic excellence is reflected in our international collaborations. MBU is India’s first university to introduce a Joint Degree Program with Penn State University (USA), a QS 100 ranked institution. We also have active collaborations with RWTH Aachen University (Germany) and the University of Wisconsin (USA)—partnerships that allow students to pursue semester and research programs abroad while continuing their degrees in India.

It is unfortunate that a committee formed with a few members, when it should be focusing on the development of several universities facing difficulties, is creating unnecessary controversy by highlighting minor administrative issues. The fact that the same commission states in its report that Mohan Babu University fully cooperated during the investigation clearly indicates that no wrongdoing was done.

We thank the thousands of parents and students who continue to place their faith in Mohan Babu University. We assure them that our vision, led by our Chancellor Dr. M. Mohan Babu, will continue to guide us in delivering world-class, inclusive education that empowers the youth of our nation.

Vishnu Manchu

Pro Chancellor, Mohan Babu University
