Empowering Students Through Awareness: Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention

About the Event
The Pharma Club, Department of Pharmacy, organized a seminar on 6 March 2026 at Dasari Auditorium. The event titled “Strong Women, Healthy Futures” focused on breast and cervical cancer prevention. It aimed to spread awareness about early detection, self-examination, and the importance of HPV vaccination. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Women’s Empowerment Cell, IIC Cell, and IQAC of Mohan Babu University.
Importance of Preventive Healthcare
Dr. V Hemalatha, Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy, coordinated the seminar. Nearly 320 students attended the session and actively engaged with the lectures delivered by eminent speakers. The resource persons included Dr. P. Siva Santosh from SVIMS, Dr. Keerthinmayee from SVMC and SVRRGGH, and Dr. S. A. Raja from SVIMS. They explained the importance of preventive healthcare and highlighted the role of regular screening. The speakers also demonstrated breast self-examination methods and discussed risk factors for women-specific cancers.
Takeaways by the Participants
The students gained awareness about breast and cervical cancer prevention and the importance of HPV vaccination. They learned the correct method of self-breast examination and understood the need for regular medical check-ups. They also appreciated the clarity of the speakers and valued the practical guidance provided. The interactive session allowed them to ask questions and clarify doubts directly with the experts.
