The Readers Club of Mohan Babu University organized a vibrant and thought-provoking event titled “Book to Screen Night” on 17th October 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, the session brought together students from across the university to explore the fascinating journey of books being adapted into films. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a strong sense of curiosity and enthusiasm among the participants.
The event was designed to promote the joy of reading and help students appreciate how stories evolve when they move from page to screen. It aimed to spark interest in literature, encourage critical thinking, and help students understand the creative choices involved in adapting books into movies. The session also provided a space for students to share their views and interpretations, building confidence in expressing ideas and engaging in meaningful discussions.
Dr. Anand Kumar, Assistant Professor from the School of Commerce and Management, coordinated the event with great care and dedication. A total of 67 students participated, each bringing their own perspective and energy to the session. Their active involvement, thoughtful responses, and willingness to engage in dialogue made the event truly interactive and enjoyable.
The highlight of the session was the guest lecture by Dr. Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who shared valuable insights into the art of adaptation. He spoke about how filmmakers preserve the soul of a book while making it visually appealing, and gave examples of well-known adaptations. Students were encouraged to reflect on the differences between written and visual storytelling, and many shared their thoughts on favourite books and films. The session was conducted in a relaxed and engaging manner, allowing everyone to participate freely.
Students left the event with a deeper understanding of storytelling and a renewed interest in reading. They gained confidence in expressing their views, improved their analytical thinking, and discovered new ways to appreciate both literature and cinema. The session also inspired them to explore different genres and think creatively about how stories can be told.
