The First Aid Force Club of the School of Paramedical and Allied Health Care Sciences, organized a seminar titled “Burns & Scalds – First Response Practices” on 15th October 2025. The session was held from 10:30 PM to 11:30 PM and took place in the Mini Auditorium. The main aim of the seminar was to raise awareness about how to respond quickly and correctly to burn and scald injuries. The session focused on teaching students the right steps to take immediately after such injuries to reduce pain, prevent infection, and support healing.
Ms. M. Mohana Priya, Assistant Professor and Convener of the First Aid Force Club, led the session. A total of 53 students from the Department of Allied Health Sciences attended the seminar. The students were very attentive and took part actively in all the discussions and demonstrations. Their enthusiasm showed their eagerness to learn and apply these life-saving skills.
During the session, students were introduced to the “Stop, Cool, and Cover” method. They learned how to stop the burning process, cool the affected area with water, and cover it with a clean cloth. Real-life case scenarios were shared, and students were asked to identify the type of burn, suggest the right treatment, and recognize signs of shock. These activities helped them think critically and work as a team.
The participants said the session helped them understand how to handle burn emergencies with more confidence. They appreciated the hands-on approach and felt that the practical examples made the learning more meaningful. Many students said they now feel better prepared to help others in real-life situations.
The organizers thanked all the students for their active participation and positive feedback. They also encouraged everyone to continue learning and spreading awareness about first aid in their communities. The event ended on a positive note, with a shared sense of responsibility and readiness to respond in times of need.
