Art Beyond Comfort: Drawing with the Other Hand

September 24

The Fine Arts Club of MBU organized a unique and engaging activity titled “Draw With Opposite Hand” on 24th September 2025 from 2:10 PM to 3:15 PM in Room No. 2059 of the Diploma Block. It was a refreshing break from routine academics, offering a space for creativity, fun, and self-discovery.

The main aim of the activity was to encourage students to step out of their comfort zones and explore their artistic side in a playful yet meaningful way. By using their non-dominant hand to draw, students were challenged to think differently, stay patient, and embrace imperfections. The event also aimed to boost imagination, improve focus, and promote creative expression.

The session was coordinated by Ms. K. Akshya Lakshmi, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Applications. A total of 40 students participated with great enthusiasm. The resource person, Ms. S. Chandini, played a key role in guiding and inspiring the students. Her presence added depth to the session, as she encouraged students to trust their instincts and explore art without fear. Students like V. Vishuvardhan, S. Rahim Basha, P. Hemalatha, and C. Kavya actively took part and drew butterflies, dolls, dogs, snakes, and more—each with their opposite hand. Their efforts were appreciated by their peers, who cheered them on throughout the activity.

The activity was conducted in a friendly and relaxed environment. Students were invited to draw freely on the blackboard without any prompts or clues. This allowed them to rely entirely on their own creativity. The challenge of using the opposite hand made the experience both fun and thought-provoking, helping students discover new ways of expressing themselves.

Participants shared that the activity helped them become more patient and confident. It gave them a chance to laugh, learn, and support one another. Many said it was a refreshing experience that helped them reconnect with their creative side and appreciate the joy of trying something new.

At the end of the session, the organizers thanked all the participants for their cheerful involvement and positive energy. Their enthusiasm made the event a memorable success. The department looks forward to hosting more such creative activities that inspire students to think differently and grow together.

With quiet focus and artistic flair, a student sketched a dog with his left hand, taking the challenge gracefully.
