Caring Minds, Ready Hands: A Workshop on Wellness and First Aid

September 25

The First Aid Force Club, the School of Paramedical and Allied Health Care Sciences (SOPAHCS), in collaboration with the Physical Education Department of MBU, organized a meaningful workshop titled “Mental Health and First Aid” on September 25, 2025. The session was held at Dasari Auditorium from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and brought together over 200 students for an hour of awareness, learning, and reflection.

The main aim of the workshop was to help students understand the importance of mental health and equip them with basic first aid skills. The event focused on building awareness around emotional well-being, encouraging early support, and promoting a culture of care and preparedness. It also aimed to teach students how to respond to distress, support peers, and take better care of themselves in both academic and personal settings.

Ms. M. Mohana Priya, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event with dedication and  care. A total of 203 students participated in the session, showing great enthusiasm and openness. Their active involvement in both the awareness and hands-on activities made the workshop lively and impactful.

The session featured an expert talk by Dr. A. Suman Kumar, Physical Education Director at MBU. With his rich academic background and experience in wellness training, Dr. Suman Kumar shared practical insights on yoga, mindfulness, and physical fitness. Students also took part in yoga demonstrations and learned simple relaxation techniques. Posters and slogans like “Your Mind Matters” and “First Aid for the Body, Care for the Mind” were displayed across campus to spread the message of integrated wellness.

Participants gained valuable takeaways from the workshop. They learned how to recognize signs of stress, practice breathing and relaxation methods, and offer basic psychological support to others. The session helped them build confidence, improve focus, and understand the role of regular physical activity in maintaining mental health..

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. M. Mohana Priya, who appreciated the students’ active participation and the support of the university. She reminded everyone that small steps like practicing yoga and mindfulness daily can lead to stronger bodies, calmer minds, and a healthier life.
