Building Hope: PMGAY Awareness Drive at Bandarlapalli

August 23

The Rural Development Club of MBU organized an awareness program on Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana (PMGAY) on 23rd August 2025 at Bandarlapalli, a village located just 2 kilometers from the university campus. It brought together enthusiastic student volunteers and curious villagers for a warm and meaningful interaction focused on rural housing and development scheme. The main goal of the program was to help villagers understand PMGAY—a central government scheme that supports affordable housing for rural families living below the poverty line.

The awareness program was guided by the club faculty coordinator, Dr. K.S. Bharathy, Assistant Professor. Twenty student volunteers participated actively. The club wanted to make sure that the villagers knew how the scheme works, who can benefit from it, and how to apply for it without confusion.

The volunteers spoke to the villagers in a friendly and respectful manner, explained the scheme in simple words, and patiently answered all questions. Their energy and clarity made the session engaging and easy to follow. During the activity, students explained the purpose of PMGAY, eligibility criteria, application steps, and the government subsidy involved. They also spoke about the quality standards for house construction and the overall process. The session included open discussions, where villagers shared their doubts and received clear, helpful answers.

The event turned out to be a learning experience for everyone. Villagers felt more confident about applying for the scheme and appreciated the support. Students gained a deeper understanding of rural challenges and felt proud to contribute to a social cause.

At the end, the organizers thanked all the participants for their time and interest. The villagers expressed their gratitude and requested more such sessions in the future. The club looks forward to continuing its efforts in rural outreach and development.
