The Sanskruthi Club organized a vibrant university-wide cultural event titled “Traditional Costume Day with Dance” on 25th August 2025. The event was held in the seminar hall of the New Academic Block and brought together students from across the campus to celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage through traditional attire, folk dances, and classical performances. The aim of the event was to promote cultural pride, inclusivity, and community bonding. It encouraged students to express their roots through costumes and dance, while also highlighting the importance of sustainable practices in clothing and performance. The event served as a reminder that cultural expressions are not just beautiful—they carry deep values of unity, identity, and shared history.
Dr. Mahadevan M, faculty coordinator, led the event with great enthusiasm and care. Around 16 students performed on stage, showcasing a variety of folk and classical dances. Their performances were graceful, energetic, and well-received by the audience. Nearly 90 students attended the event, creating a lively and appreciative atmosphere throughout.
The activity began with students arriving in traditional attire, representing different regions and styles. Each performance was introduced with a brief explanation, helping the audience understand the cultural background of the dance. The seminar hall was filled with music, color, and applause as students took turns performing and sharing their traditions.
Participants gained a lot from the experience. They learned to appreciate the beauty of diversity, felt proud of their cultural roots, and understood the value of sustainable clothing like hand woven fabrics and natural dyes. The event also helped build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging among students.
At the end, the organizers thanked all the performers and attendees for making the event a grand success. Their support and participation helped create a warm, inclusive space that celebrated tradition and togetherness.
