Crafting Tomorrow’s Engineers: A CAD Challenge for Innovation and Growth

The CAD Club of the Mechanical Engineering Department organized an engaging event titled “Design Challenges: Competing in CAD Competition” on 14th August 2025. This initiative was designed to provide students with a platform to showcase their design abilities using CAD software. It aimed to foster creativity, teamwork, and confidence among budding engineers by challenging them to solve real-world design problems.

Under the coordination of Dr. S. Lakshmi Narayana, Associate Professor and Faculty In-charge of the CAD Club, the event saw enthusiastic participation from 42 students of III and IV B.Tech Mechanical Engineering. The competition featured a single round where students used AutoCAD and Solid Works to develop innovative design solutions. Their energy and commitment were evident as they tackled the challenge with focus and originality, producing impressive models within the allotted time.

The event was learning experience, boosting students’ confidence and motivating them to explore advanced design techniques. It also reinforced the importance of presentation skills and clear communication in engineering design. Many students expressed interest in participating in future competitions and deepening their knowledge of CAD software.

Overall, the competition had a positive impact on the students, cultivating a spirit of innovation and healthy competition. It highlighted the importance of simple yet effective design solutions and promoted peer learning. Events like these play a crucial role in preparing students for industry challenges and nurturing their creative potential in engineering design.
