Excellence in Innovation: MBU’s IEEE Student Branch Honored with Top National Recognition

The IEEE Student Branch at Mohan Babu University has achieved a significant milestone by receiving the Outstanding Student Branch Award 2025 at the IEEE India Council Awards. This prestigious recognition celebrates the branch’s exceptional contributions to technology education, research, and innovation throughout the year.

A Year of Outstanding Achievement

The award acknowledges the branch’s comprehensive impact across multiple dimensions of technical education and professional development. Central to this recognition was the successful execution of SAMARTHA 2025, a 36-hour national-level hackathon that brought together student innovators from across India to tackle real-world challenges in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity, and Data Science.

Beyond SAMARTHA, the branch demonstrated remarkable organizational capabilities through several flagship initiatives:

  • Student Congress 2025 – A platform for peer learning and technical exchange
  • E-JIGYASA Project Expo 2025 – Showcasing student innovation and research
  • IEEE International Conference on Advanced Computing Technologies (ICACT 2025) – Attracting national and international academic participation

Impact Through Engagement

The branch’s influence extends well beyond event organization. Over the past year, members conducted more than 50 technical and professional activities, including expert lectures, hands-on workshops, research seminars, coding competitions, and industry-focused sessions. These initiatives provided students with direct exposure to emerging technologies and practical skill development opportunities.

The branch’s research culture flourished, with members publishing over 25 research papers in reputed journals and conferences. This academic productivity reflects the strong foundation of inquiry and innovation that defines the MBU IEEE community. Further demonstrating entrepreneurial initiative, branch members launched an AI-based startup, translating research and learning into market-ready solutions.

Part of a Larger Culture of Excellence

This award fits within MBU’s broader tradition of student achievement in competitive technical forums. MBU students have consistently demonstrated excellence at national engineering and IT competitions, including winning the IBM National Hackathon in 2025 and securing first prize at IIT (BHU) Varanasi’s Technex Hackathon in 2024. These accomplishments underscore the university’s commitment to hands-on learning, innovation, and industry-relevant skill development.

The Outstanding Student Branch Award 2025 is a recognition not only of past achievements but of the potential for continued leadership in technology education and innovation. As MBU’s IEEE Student Branch continues to grow, it remains committed to empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to become the next generation of technology leaders and changemakers.
