Hands-on Training on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) for NBA Accreditation

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MBU organized a hands-on training session on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) for the faculty members of MBA and MCA programs on 06 August 2025 at the ED Seminar Hall. The session is aimed at enhancing faculty awareness and competence in mapping Course Outcomes (COs) to Program Outcomes (POs)—a critical component in aligning teaching objectives with assessment strategies and ensuring readiness for NBA Accreditation.
Dr. P. V. Ramana, Dean of Academic Affairs, served as the resource person and delivered an in-depth session focusing on the practical implementation of OBE within higher education systems. He outlined the foundational principles of OBE and its significance in aligning academic delivery with Program Outcomes (Pos) and Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs).
During the session, the resource person explained the foundational structure of OBE and its relevance in aligning academic delivery with program outcomes and program-specific outcomes. He also discussed in detail the methodology for mapping Course Outcomes (COs) to Program Outcomes (POs), emphasizing how such alignment ensures clarity in teaching objectives and assessment design.
A significant portion of the training was dedicated to the formulation of COs based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, helping faculty to frame learning outcomes across cognitive levels such as remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. This formed the basis for setting appropriate assessment tools and strategies. The discussion also extended to the process of calculating attainment levels, where he demonstrated how quantitative metrics could be applied to measure student performance against the defined outcomes.
The session provided the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the teaching-learning-assessment cycle required under the OBE framework and its critical role in NBA accreditation. The training was well-received and proved to be highly beneficial in building the faculty’s capacity to integrate OBE practices effectively within their curriculum.
