Symbol Smash: Strengthening Fundamentals Through Competition

Event Overview and Objectives
The Electrical Technical Association (ETA) Club of MBU organized a technical event titled “Symbol Smash” on 28th January 2026 at the Mini-Auditorium. The one-day program brought together enthusiastic students eager to test and strengthen their knowledge of electrical and electronic symbols, which are the building blocks of circuit design and analysis. The event was aimed at helping students sharpen their understanding of fundamental electrical and electronic symbols. These symbols are not only essential for interpreting circuits but also form the basis for practical applications in engineering. By designing the competition in a fun and engaging format, the ETA Club ensured that students could revise their basics while enjoying a healthy dose of competition.
Programe Structure and Participation
The program was coordinated by Dr. Rajasekar Thota, Associate Professor, Department of EEE, under the guidance of Dr. M. S. Sujatha, Professor and Head of the Department (EEE). A total of 40 students participated in the event, supported by the student coordinators of the ETA Club. Their active involvement ensured smooth organization and execution. The participants displayed great enthusiasm and performed with focus and determination throughout the rounds. The competition was conducted in two rounds. Round 1 tested the participants’ ability to identify and interpret various electrical and electronic symbols within a limited time. This round helped highlight the importance of accuracy and quick recall. Round 2 was a face-off between the top teams from Round 1, where speed, teamwork, and precision played a crucial role. The final round created an exciting atmosphere, and the winning team was declared based on overall performance. The activity emphasized the importance of mastering symbols, which are the language of electrical engineering.
Key Outcomes and Takeaways
The key takeaways for the participants included enhanced conceptual clarity, improved analytical skills, and better decision-making under time pressure. Students also gained confidence in applying their knowledge in practical scenarios. The event encouraged teamwork and reinforced the importance of strong fundamentals in electrical engineering. The organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and student volunteers who actively contributed to the success of the club event.
