Strengthening Cyber Awareness Through Data Challenges

October 17

The TAIT Club, the School of Computing of MBU organized an exciting event titled “SQL SHOWDOWN” on 17th October 2025 at Room 514, MNS Block. The activity brought together 70 enthusiastic participants for a hands-on experience in SQL and cyber security awareness. The main aim of the event was to help students build practical skills in identifying phishing emails and fraudulent websites.

The event was coordinated by Ms. C. Nithisha, Assistant Professor, who ensured smooth execution and active engagement throughout the session. It also focused on developing their analytical thinking and technical abilities while promoting safe digital practices. The event encouraged participants to think critically and apply cyber security knowledge in real-world scenarios.

The activity was conducted in two rounds. The first round, Query Quest, tested participants on basic SQL concepts like SELECT, WHERE, ORDER BY, and JOIN operations. This round helped shortlist students for the next stage. The second round, Logical Ladder, challenged participants with complex problems involving nested queries, aggregate functions, and data grouping. Students had to analyze tables and produce accurate results within a time limit, which sharpened their logical thinking and decision-making skills.

Mr. Sumanth and his team from III Year CSE (DS) emerged as winners, while Ms. Vyshnavi and her team secured the runner-up position. All participants showed great enthusiasm and teamwork, making the event lively and competitive.

Students gained valuable insights into detecting phishing attempts, analyzing digital threats, and applying safe online practices. They also learned how quick thinking and ethical awareness play a key role in cyber security. The event highlighted the importance of digital innovation and secure infrastructure in today’s tech-driven world.

The organizers expressed heartfelt thanks to all participants, faculty, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event. Their energy and involvement made the event a memorable and impactful learning experience.
