January 20
JAN-20-01-2026- Plant Heath CLub3

Overview of the Event

The Plant Health Club organized the activity “Pollinators as Pillars of Sustainable Food Systems” on 20 January 2026. The event took place in nearby farm fields of V-Hostel and the NCC Ground. The activity aimed to create awareness about the crucial role of pollinators in agriculture and food security. It helped students understand how pollinators contribute to crop yield, biodiversity, and ecosystem health. The program encouraged sustainable farming practices and highlighted the importance of protecting pollinators for resilient food systems.

Experiential Learning Through Field Visits

Dr. P. Maheswara Reddy, Assistant Professor at the School of Agriculture coordinated the event. A total of 46 students actively participated in the activity with great interest. They performed field visits and collected different types of pollinators from the surroundings. This hands-on exposure gave them practical knowledge about pollinator diversity and their role in crop production. The activity provided meaningful learning beyond classroom teaching. It emphasized the importance of linking agriculture, biodiversity, and conservation through direct observation and interaction.

Key Takeaways

Students expressed that the activity was highly informative and engaging. They appreciated the opportunity to observe and collect pollinators directly from the field. The practical exposure improved their understanding of pollinators’ role in agriculture and food production. They felt more confident in identifying pollinator groups and relating them to biodiversity and ecosystem services. The activity enhanced their interest in entomology, sustainable farming, and environmental conservation. Feedback was positive, with students highlighting the value of experiential learning and its impact on their academic growth. The event concluded successfully with active participation and valuable outcomes. The organizers expressed gratitude to all students for their enthusiasm and commitment.
