The Rural Development Club of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an interactive outreach program titled “Smart Energy Saving Dormitory” on 17th October 2025. The event was held at Sri Vinayaka Vidya Mandir, A. Rangampet, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The session brought together 30 enthusiastic school students from classes 5, 6, and 7, creating a lively and curious atmosphere.
The main aim of the program was to introduce young students to the idea of saving energy using smart technology. The session focused on how simple tools like sensors, automated controls, and basic AI concepts can help reduce electricity usage in dormitories and homes. It also encouraged students to think about how technology can be used for community service and environmental care. The event was designed to promote awareness about sustainability and responsible energy consumption.
The session was coordinated by Mr. K.S. Bharaty, Assistant Professor in the Department of EEE. The student volunteers guided the school children through the session with patience and enthusiasm. The children responded with curiosity and excitement, asking questions and sharing their thoughts. Their active involvement made the session both fun and meaningful.
During the activity, students were shown how smart systems work in real life. Through simple demonstrations and examples, they learned how sensors can detect movement, control lights, and help save energy. The session also highlighted how these technologies connect to broader goals like climate action and clean energy. The discussion helped students understand the link between science, sustainability, and everyday life.
The participants walked away with a better understanding of how technology can support environmental responsibility. They learned the importance of saving energy and how small changes can make a big difference. The session also sparked interest in science and innovation, encouraging students to think creatively and responsibly.
The organizers expressed heartfelt thanks to the school students, and the volunteers for making the event a success. They appreciated the warm response and active participation from the young learners.
