Promoting Gender Sensitivity in Clinical Practice

About the Event

The Wellness Wizards Club organized the activity titled “Gender Awareness in Healthcare: Learning for Better Patient Care” on 20-01- 2026. The event aimed to help students understand how gender influences in healthcare needs, communication, and clinical decision-making. It encouraged awareness of unconscious biases and promoted inclusive thinking in patient care. The activity highlighted the importance of empathy, respect, and sensitivity in healthcare practice.

Interactive Session on Gender Concepts

Dr. Akbar J, Assistant Professor at SOPAHCS, coordinated the event. A total of 49 students actively participated in the session. The activity began with an introduction to gender concepts and their relevance in clinical practice. Students engaged in interactive case-based discussions that allowed them to analyze real-life scenarios. They explored strategies to build better rapport with patients by acknowledging gender perspectives. The session was well-organized and created an engaging environment that promoted active learning and professional development.
