Plant Clinic Camp: Field Diagnosis of Crop Diseases

Aim of the Camp

The Plant Health Club, the School of Agriculture, organized “Plant Clinic Camp on 6 March 2026 at the fields of V-Hostel in MBU. It aimed to provide students with practical exposure to crop health assessment. The event focused on real-time disease diagnosis in farmers’ fields and student plots. The objective was to strengthen skills in field observation and symptom recognition. Students also learned to differentiate between biotic and abiotic disorders.

Documentation by the Students

Dr. K. Sailaja and Dr. P. Maheswara Reddy coordinated the camp with dedication. A total of 47 students actively participated in the field activity. They visited farmers’ fields and student plots to observe standing crops. Faculty guided them in identifying symptoms such as leaf spots, blights, wilting, and rots. Students documented field data and applied classroom knowledge in real situations. The camp highlighted the importance of integrated disease management practices.

Insights and Feedback

Students gained practical knowledge of crop disease diagnosis and health assessment. They improved their ability to recognize symptoms and analyze possible causes. The camp enhanced their observational skills and diagnostic reasoning. Interaction with farmers helped them understand real field challenges. Feedback showed that students valued the hands-on exposure and practical learning. They appreciated the opportunity to connect theory with field-based applications. The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants for their active involvement. The Plant Clinic Camp was informative, skill-oriented, and highly beneficial. It promoted experiential learning and strengthened extension communication skills. The Plant Health Club looks forward to organizing more such practical activities.
