Out of Box Thinking – A Creative Challenge to Think Smart

September 23

The Readers Club of the School of Commerce and Management organized an exciting event titled “Out of Box Thinking” with the tagline “Think Different & Think Smart” on 23rd September 2025. The event was held at Seminar Hall-3 in the New Academic Building of MBU. It brought together students from various departments to explore new ideas and challenge conventional thinking through structured innovation activities.

The main aim of the event was to encourage creative thinking and help students develop an innovation-oriented mindset. It provided a platform for participants to brainstorm futuristic ideas and find smart solutions to emerging trends. The event also focused on enhancing entrepreneurial and pitching skills, helping students prepare for real-world challenges in business and beyond.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Anand Kumar, Assistant Professor, who guided the students throughout the session. A good number of students participated actively, showing great enthusiasm and energy. They engaged deeply with the tasks, shared ideas confidently, and worked together to develop innovative strategies. Their performance reflected strong interest and a willingness to think beyond the usual.

The activity was conducted in two rounds. The first round, Reverse Brainstorming, asked the students to think of ways to intentionally to “fail” a product or idea. This helped them look at problems from a different angle and sparked lateral thinking. The second round, “Flip It to Win It”, challenged them to turn those failed ideas into successful strategies. This round focused on problem-solving and strategic thinking, encouraging students to transform challenges into opportunities. The event concluded with the announcement of winners, with V. Nithya being declared the winner for her outstanding idea.

Participants took away valuable lessons from the event. They improved their creative thinking, learned how to present ideas effectively, and gained confidence in approaching problems with fresh perspectives. The session also inspired many to consider entrepreneurship and innovation as future career paths.

The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the participants for their active involvement and thoughtful contributions. They appreciated the students’ spirit of learning and creativity. The success of the event has encouraged the Readers Club to plan more such activities that promote innovation, collaboration, and smart thinking among students.

The students were actively involved in judging the innovative ideas conveyed by the presenters during the presentation.
