Numbers in Action: Arithmetic War Sparks Competitive Spirit

The Ramanujan Club of MBU hosted a lively and engaging activity titled “Arithmetic War” on 17th September 2025, from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM in Room No. 4300 of the New Academic Building. The event brought together students from various departments for an hour of fun, logic, and friendly competition. The main goal of the event was to help students sharpen their arithmetic skills while encouraging them to think quickly and accurately under pressure.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Ch. Bhavitha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, whose guidance ensured smooth execution and enthusiastic participation. A total of 58 students took part, split into two spirited teams—Girls vs. Boys. Student coordinators V. Babitha (CSIT III Year), V. Sameer Reddy (CSE II Year), and K. Uday Kiran (CSE II Year) played a key role in organizing and energizing the participants.

The competition unfolded in three rounds: the Qualifier, Semi-Final, and Final. Each round tested different aspects of arithmetic thinking. Round 1 focused on percentages and saw the Boys’ Team take the lead. Round 2 challenged participants with age-related problems, and the Girls’ Team bounced back with a win. The Final Round featured tricky questions on averages and BODMAS, leading to a nail-biting finish. After a close contest, the Boys’ Team emerged as the overall winners.

Participants walked away with more than just scores—they gained confidence, improved their mental math skills, and experienced the joy of collaborative problem-solving. The event also highlighted the importance of teamwork, quick thinking, and staying calm under pressure.

At the end of the session, the organizers extended heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The Ramanujan Club looks forward to hosting more such events that blend learning with fun and foster a spirit of healthy competition among students.
