Managing Medical Emergencies: Nosebleeds, Seizures, and Minor Cuts

About the Event
The First Aid Force Club, the School of Paramedical, Allied and Health Care Sciences organized a workshop on 20 January 2026. The session titled “Nosebleed, Seizures & Minor Cuts – Quick Care Tips” was held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event took place in Room No. 2802, Mechanical Block. It aimed to train students in handling common emergencies with quick and safe first‑aid practices.
Practical Training for Emergency
Ms. M. Mohana Priya, Assistant Professor, coordinated the workshop. A total of 31 students from allied health programs actively participated in the session. The event focused on practical demonstrations and clear explanations of first‑aid steps. Students learned correct methods for managing nosebleeds, seizures, and minor cuts. The coordinator explained the importance of calm response and safe positioning during emergencies. She highlighted common mistakes such as tilting the head backward during nosebleeds or restraining patients during seizures. Students practiced wound cleaning, bleeding control, antiseptic use, and sterile dressing techniques. The recovery position demonstration was a special highlight that improved understanding of airway safety. Interactive activities included quizzes, presentations, and poster preparation on emergency care. The workshop created an engaging environment that encouraged teamwork and peer learning.

Students felt that the workshop improved their confidence in handling emergencies independently. They appreciated learning correct patient positioning and the importance of the recovery position. Participants valued the chance to clear misconceptions and avoid unsafe practices. Hands‑on demonstrations helped them retain first‑aid principles more effectively.
