The Toastmasters Club, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, successfully organized an engaging orientation program titled “Ignite the Spark” on 26 August 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the TGR Seminar Hall, MNS Block. The session was designed to introduce students to the foundational principles of public speaking, effective communication, and leadership development—core values championed by the Toastmasters movement.
The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. K. Manigandan, Associate Professor of English. He initiated interactive activities such as impromptu speaking and fun icebreakers, which helped students, overcome initial hesitation and build confidence. A total of 77 students actively engaged in the session, demonstrating keen enthusiasm. Their active engagement reflected a genuine curiosity about the Toastmasters platform and its long-term benefits. The program not only introduced the structure and spirit of Toastmasters but also sparked a sense of motivation among the attendees to pursue personal growth through communication.
The orientation created a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging students to explore their potential as speakers and leaders. It resonated strongly with the club’s mission to empower individuals to become confident communicators and effective leaders. The event was a meaningful first step in cultivating a vibrant community of effective communicators and future leaders.
Students expressed appreciation for the interactive format and shared their eagerness to join future sessions. The orientation also served as a gateway for students to explore the broader Toastmasters curriculum, which includes structured pathways for speech development, leadership roles, and peer evaluation. The event reaffirmed the university’s dedication to holistic student development and the cultivation of future-ready leaders.
