Fun Fiesta on Winter Lung Care and Respiratory Health

The Breath Easy Club, the School of Paramedical & Allied and Health Care Sciences, organized a lively awareness program titled “Why Your Lungs Throw a Tantrum in Winter! – Join a Fun Fiesta This Winter” on 16th December 2025. The event was held on campus at Pops Canteen brought together students and faculty for an engaging session that combined health education with fun activities. The main aim of the program was to create awareness about winter‑related respiratory problems such as asthma, breathing difficulties, and their exacerbations. The session highlighted the importance of strong respiratory muscles, safe breathing practices, and preventive measures to maintain good lung health.
The program was coordinated by Ms. R.S. Angeline Yehudhiya, Assistant Professor in the school of SOPAHCS, with guidance from the Head of the Department, Mr. K. Manas Chakravarthy. A good number of students participated enthusiastically, showing great energy and interest throughout the event. Their involvement in discussions, demonstrations, and activities reflected their eagerness to learn and their commitment to spreading awareness about respiratory health.
One of the highlights of the program was the Balloon Challenge Activity. Students were encouraged to inflate balloons using proper breathing techniques, which helped them visually understand lung capacity and the role of respiratory muscles. This simple yet effective activity added a fun and competitive element to the session, making the learning process enjoyable. Alongside this, interactive discussions and case‑based explanations helped participants connect theory with practice.
The key takeaway for students was a better understanding of how winter affects lung health and the importance of preventive care. They learned practical breathing techniques, recognized the need for strong respiratory muscles, and understood how awareness can reduce the risk of asthma attacks and other complications. The event also fostered positive attitudes toward maintaining respiratory health and encouraged students to adopt healthy habits in their daily lives.
The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the faculty, guest speakers, and students for their active participation. They reminded everyone that respiratory health is a shared responsibility and emphasized the importance of collective action in fighting illnesses like tuberculosis. The event left participants inspired to prioritize lung health and continue spreading awareness in their communities.
