From Campus to Career: Agronomy Alumni Inspire the Next Generation

The Agronomy Club of the School of Agriculture organized a special career talk titled “My Agri Journey – Career Talks by Agronomy Alumni” on 9th October 2025. The event took place from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Mini Auditorium, MBU. It was a lively and engaging session where students got the chance to hear directly from a successful alumnus about life beyond college and the many paths available in the field of Agronomy.

The main aim of the event was to help students understand the wide range of career options in Agronomy and related agricultural sectors. It was designed to motivate young minds by sharing real-life experiences and to guide them in planning their future. The session also focused on the importance of research, higher studies, and agribusiness opportunities.

The program was coordinated by Mr. D. Ramamohan Reddy, Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, School of Agriculture.  A total of 55 students from the School of Agriculture participated in the session. The students were attentive, curious, and actively engaged throughout the talk. Their enthusiasm was evident during the interactive Q&A session, where they asked thoughtful questions about career planning and higher education.

Dr. I. Chandrakanth, the guest speaker and alumnus, shared his inspiring journey from student life to becoming a researcher and academic. He spoke about the challenges he faced during his post-graduation and Ph.D., and how determination and discipline helped him succeed. He highlighted the importance of internships, publications, and networking. The session was conducted in a friendly and open manner, making it easy for students to connect and learn.

 Students walked away with a clearer understanding of career paths in Agronomy. They felt more confident about exploring higher studies and research. The talk helped them set realistic goals and encouraged them to stay committed to their dreams. It also strengthened the bond between alumni and current students.

The Agronomy Club and organizers sincerely thanked Dr. Chandrakanth for his valuable time and inspiring words. They also appreciated the active participation of students and the support of faculty members who helped make the event a success.
