The Pharma Club of MBU organized a two-day awareness program on October 23rd and 24th, 2025 as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event was held at Lecture Hall 3 in the NAB Block and brought together students, faculty, and health professionals to shed light on breast cancer prevention and early detection. The initiative was supported by the Department of Pharmacy Practice, MB School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in association with the IQAC, NSS Unit, and Women Empowerment Cell of MBU.
The event aimed to educate young minds about breast cancer, its causes, and the importance of early diagnosis. It also focused on empowering students to take part in health awareness campaigns and become responsible voices in the community. By combining academic knowledge with real-world health concerns, the program encouraged students to think beyond textbooks and engage with pressing public health issues.
Dr. V Hemalatha, Assistant Professor in the School of Pharmacy, coordinated the event with great enthusiasm. Around 120 participants, including II Pharm D students, actively took part in the campaign and lecture sessions. On the first day, students conducted an on-campus awareness drive, sharing information about self-examination techniques and preventive care. Their energy and commitment were evident as they interacted with peers and faculty, using posters and short talks to spread awareness.
On the second day, a guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Ramesh Reddy, Consultant Medical Oncologist from Omega Hospitals, Tirupati. His session provided valuable insights into breast cancer screening methods, risk factors, and the role of early diagnosis. The talk was informative and engaging, helping students connect clinical knowledge with practical applications in oncology and public health.
Participants walked away with a deeper understanding of breast cancer and its impact. The students especially girls learned about the importance of regular screening, the role of lifestyle choices in prevention, and how to communicate health messages effectively. The event also sparked interest in research areas like cancer epidemiology and patient education.
The organizers extended heartfelt thanks to all participants, collaborators, and the resource person for making the event meaningful and impactful. Their collective efforts helped create a space for learning, sharing, and inspiring action toward a healthier future.
