Empowering EEE Students: Workshop on GATE as a Career Catalyst

The Electro Affinity Club, the department of EEE, organized an inspiring event titled “GATE – More Than an Exam, A Career Catalyst” on 23rd November 2025 at Room No. 2303. The session was planned to give students a clear picture of how the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) can shape their future. The aim of the event was to help students see GATE not only as a competitive test but as a stepping stone to higher education, research opportunities, and prestigious careers in public and private sectors.
It was designed to highlight how preparation for GATE builds analytical skills, discipline, and clarity of thought, which remain useful throughout one’s professional journey. The resource person, Dr. I. Kumaraswamy, Associate Professor in the EEE Department at MBU, shared his insights on how GATE acts as a career catalyst and opens doors to global opportunities.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Gogula Vyshnavi, Assistant Professor, with guidance from Dr. M. S. Sujatha, Head of the Department of EEE. A total of 57 students from the II-year B.Tech EEE program participated enthusiastically. Student coordinators Nithish, Keerthana, Ramu, and Anusha played an active role in organizing and managing the session. Their teamwork ensured smooth execution, and their efforts reflected the spirit of collaboration and leadership among the students.
The activity was conducted in an interactive manner, where students were encouraged to think beyond textbooks and engage with real-life career possibilities. The session emphasized the importance of conceptual clarity, analytical thinking, and disciplined preparation. Dr. Kumaraswamy explained how GATE is not just about rankings but about building a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The event was structured to move from awareness building to practical guidance, making it both informative and motivating.
The participants took away valuable lessons from the session. They gained a better understanding of diverse pathways such as higher studies, research, public sector undertakings, and industry roles. They also received practical tips on planning, resource utilization, and time management for effective preparation. Most importantly, the event inspired them to view challenges as opportunities for growth and to approach GATE with clarity and purpose.
At the end of the program, the organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, student coordinators, and all participants. The event was appreciated for its systematic flow and realistic approach, leaving students motivated and confident about their future journey with GATE.
