Clash of Minds: A Debate That Sparked Ideas and Leadership

August 26

The Spikes Club, the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering of MBU, organized a lively debate competition titled “Clash of Minds” on August 26, 2025, at Room No. 507 and it brought together students, faculty, and curious minds for thoughtful discussion and spirited exchange. The main goal of the event was to help students sharpen their critical thinking and communication skills. By encouraging respectful debate and evidence-based arguments, the competition aimed to build confidence, promote teamwork, and nurture leadership among participants.

The competition was smoothly coordinated by Dr. G. Harikrishnan, Associate Professor, who guided the entire process with care and precision. A total of 47 students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their ability and presenting their views with clarity and conviction. Their energy and preparation made the event truly engaging for everyone present.

The debate was conducted in two rounds. The first round, The Verbal Arena, featured teams of three debating a common topic. This format encouraged collaboration and group strategy. The second round, The Spotlight Round, gave selected individuals the chance to speak solo on surprise topics, testing their spontaneity and depth of thought. The competition was held in a formal setting, and Mude Reddy Balaji Naik from IV-EEE won the first prize for his outstanding performance.
