CinemaTronics: A Creative Blend of Circuits and Cinema

November 5

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with the IETE Students’ Forum, organized a lively and creative event titled “CinemaTronics” on November 5, 2025. The program was held at the Mini Auditorium of the university and it was designed to combine engineering concepts with entertainment, making it both engaging and memorable.

The aim of CinemaTronics was to encourage students to think beyond textbooks and apply their technical knowledge in innovative ways. By blending circuit challenges with cinematic themes, the event sought to promote experiential learning, quick thinking, and creativity. It was not only about solving problems but also about enjoying the process of discovery and collaboration. The organizers wanted students to see how engineering can connect with everyday experiences and even with the world of movies.

The event was coordinated by Dr. T. V. V. Satyanarayana, Professor in the Department of ECE, with support from resource person Dr. N. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor. A total of 70 enthusiastic students participated, forming teams of three to four members. The participants showed great energy and involvement throughout the program. They worked together in solving challenges, displayed strong teamwork, and brought out their creative side while tackling the tasks. Their performance reflected both technical skill and a willingness to think differently.

The activities were divided into two rounds. The first round, Cine Code, tested students’ knowledge of resistor color codes in a playful way. Teams calculated resistance values and decoded them into letters using a given alphabet code, eventually arriving at movie names. This round highlighted the importance of accuracy and lateral thinking. The second round, Cine Tech, was a buzzer quiz based on science fiction movie clips. Teams had to watch short scenes and quickly answer questions, making the round exciting. This activity sharpened observation skills, reflexes, and cinematic knowledge, while keeping the atmosphere competitive and fun.

Participants took away valuable lessons from the event. They learned how technical concepts can be applied in creative contexts, how teamwork and quick decision‑making matter in problem‑solving, and how interdisciplinary learning can be both enjoyable and rewarding. .

At the end of the program, the organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, faculty members, and the IETE Students’ Forum for their support. They appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the students and hoped that the event would inspire them to continue exploring innovative ways of learning.

The student groups actively participated in the quiz, responding enthusiastically to the questions.

While the participants are actively engaged in the session, the student coordinators provide oversight and guidance through the PowerPoint presentation.
