Celebrating Science Day with Enthusiasm at Physics Department

Promoting Passion for Science

The Department of Physics, SOLAS, MBU, celebrated National Science Day on 28 February 2026 at R.No.504 in the MNS Block. The event started at 10 AM and continued until the evening with great enthusiasm. The program aimed to promote passion for scientific thinking and creativity among students. As part of the celebrations, the department organized a quiz competition, essay writing competition, and a science experiment exhibition. Students participated actively in all the events with great interest and energy.

Displaying Talents

Dr.Y. B. Kishore Kumar, Head of the Department, coordinated the entire program. More than 130 students joined the competitions and displayed their talents. The quiz tested their knowledge of physics and general science concepts. The essay writing competition encouraged students to express scientific ideas clearly. The science experiment exhibition allowed students to demonstrate practical skills. The exhibition highlighted recent advancements, including the functioning of the Bullet Train, ultrasonic sound phenomena, resonance, and mutual induction, which were demonstrated through experiments. During the evening session, Prof. D. Rudra Sankar, Professor in ECE, NIT Mizoram, presented a guest lecture on “Semiconductor Advances for IoT and RF applications”. The events highlighted the importance of science in everyday life. The competitions created a healthy atmosphere of learning and teamwork.
