JAN-21-101-2026-Bug Bounty and Debugging DayFOSS Club1

Event Overview

The FOSS Club organized “Bug Bounty and Debugging Day” on 21 January 2026 in Mechanical Block at Room No. 2802. The activity aimed to strengthen students’ skills in identifying and fixing software errors while spreading awareness about cybersecurity. It provided hands-on exposure to debugging tasks and introduced students to bug bounty programs followed by leading companies. The event encouraged secure coding practices and highlighted the importance of writing clean and error-free code.

Cracking Bugs, Building Security

Ms. T. Ramya, Assistant Professor in Data Science, coordinated the event. A total of 47 students actively participated in the program with great enthusiasm. Mr. V. Sreetharan, Assistant Professor in Data Science, guided the students through real-time debugging challenges. Participants worked on identifying bugs, logical errors, and vulnerabilities in given programs. They collaborated in teams, discussed solutions, and learned how small mistakes can cause major issues in software systems. The event created a competitive yet friendly environment that motivated students to think logically and work under time constraints.

Feedback

Students gained practical experience in debugging and secure coding practices. They appreciated the interactive sessions and valued the guidance provided by faculty members. The activity improved their coding accuracy, problem-solving skills, and confidence in handling technical challenges. Participants expressed interest in exploring ethical hacking and cybersecurity careers. They highlighted the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and version control in managing software projects. Feedback was highly positive, with students requesting similar events in the future to strengthen their technical skills. The event concluded successfully with active participation and valuable learning outcomes. The organizers expressed gratitude to all students for their enthusiasm and commitment. The event proved to be a meaningful step in bridging the gap between theory and practical application in software development.
