Breaking Myths, Sharing Facts – Awareness Session on Scientific Truths

The Pharma Club of MBU organized an engaging awareness session titled “Myth vs. Fact” on 25th October 2025. The program was designed to create a lively and interactive learning environment for pharmacy students. The event brought together young minds to discuss health-related myths and the scientific truths behind them, making the day both informative and thought provoking.
The aim of the event was to help students understand the difference between popular misconceptions and evidence based knowledge. In today’s world, where misinformation spreads quickly, it is important for future pharmacists to be able to identify myths and replace them with facts supported by science. The session focused on topics such as medicines, vaccination, diet habits, cultural practices, and general health awareness. By addressing these areas, the program encouraged students to think critically and to develop confidence in communicating accurate health information.
The session was coordinated by Dr. V. Hemalatha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy. A Total of33 students from II Pharm D and II B.Pharm actively participated with great enthusiasm. The participants asked questions, shared examples of myths they had heard, and discussed how these beliefs could affect health if not corrected. Their active involvement reflected their eagerness to learn and their ability to engage in meaningful discussions.
The activity was conducted in a simple yet effective manner. Dr. Hemalatha explained each myth clearly and presented the scientific facts in a way that was easy to understand. The interactive style of the program made it lively and ensured that students remained attentive and motivated.
The key takeaways for the participants were significant. They learned how to analyze information scientifically, how to question unverified claims, and how to apply their pharmacy knowledge in practical contexts. The session also strengthened their health literacy and encouraged them to adopt evidence‑based practices in their personal and professional lives.
At the end of the program, the organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the participants for their active involvement. They appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the students and emphasized that those sessions were essential for building scientific thinking and responsible communication.
