Awareness Program on Gender Equity and Empowerment

The Electrical Technical Association Club, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering,  organized an awareness program titled “Bold and Equal: Feminist Self-Sureness for Gender Equity” on 30th December 2025 at Room No. 2303.The event was aimed at promoting awareness about gender equity, self-confidence, and the importance of equal opportunities for all individuals, especially in technical and engineering fields. It sought to highlight how inclusiveness, education, and a positive mindset can help society move towards equality. The discussions encouraged students to think about the role of fairness and respect in both academic and professional environments, making the session highly relevant to their future careers.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Rajasekar Thota, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, with the encouragement and support of the Head of the Department, Dr. M. S. Sujatha. A total of 40 students attended the session, and their active involvement made the event lively and interactive. The student coordinators of the ETA Club played a key role in ensuring smooth organization, from planning to execution, and their teamwork contributed greatly to the success of the program.

The activity was conducted in an engaging manner, combining informative talks with open discussions. Students were encouraged to share their views on challenges related to gender bias and empowerment, which made the session interactive and thought-provoking. The importance of women’s leadership in engineering and technical domains was emphasized, and the program connected academic learning with social responsibility.

The participants took away several valuable lessons from the session. They gained a clearer understanding of gender equity and the importance of building inclusive professional environments. The discussions inspired them to reflect on equality, mutual respect, and ethical responsibility in both academic and workplace settings. Students also recognized the significance of communication, social awareness, and ethical values as essential complements to technical education.

At the end of the program, the organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and thoughtful contributions. They appreciated the support of the Head of the Department and the dedication of the student coordinators. The event concluded on a positive note, with a collective hope that such awareness programs would continue to be organized regularly.
