Crack the Clues: Crossword Puzzle Sparks Minds and Smiles

The Science Club, the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences, the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, organized a lively and engaging event titled “Crossword Puzzle Competition” on November 1, 2025 at Room 1703 .The atmosphere was filled with curiosity and excitement as students gathered to test their skills in a fun and intellectually stimulating format.

The main aim of the event was to help students sharpen their logical thinking, vocabulary, and subject knowledge. It was designed to encourage quick recall, improve problem-solving abilities, and promote healthy competition. The crossword format offered a playful yet educational challenge, allowing students to think on their feet while enjoying the process.

The event was coordinated by Ms. S Vasiha Anjum, Assistant Professor, who guided the activity with warmth and clarity. The competition began with a short orientation on the rules. Students were then given 30 minutes to solve the puzzle sheets. The Faculty coordinator monitored the session closely to ensure fairness and to assist with any queries. The winners were selected based on accuracy, speed, and completeness. Madhan from BSc III Semester and Aisha from BSc V Semester, both from Biotechnology, emerged as the top performers.

The crossword puzzle helped students boost their memory, improve concentration, and strengthen their understanding of key concepts. The event followed a clear structure—registration, instructions, puzzle solving, response collection, and winner announcement—which ensured smooth execution and active participation throughout.

Students walked away with several valuable takeaways. They improved their vocabulary and subject recall, learned to manage time effectively, and developed better analytical thinking. The competitive setting also helped build confidence and sparked interest in similar academic challenges. Many participants shared positive feedback, appreciating the creative and enjoyable nature of the event.

The organizing team of the club expressed heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their spirited involvement. Their energy and enthusiasm made the event a memorable success. The coordinators also acknowledged the support of faculty and staff who contributed to the smooth conduct of the activity.
