Lights, Camera, Learn! A Movie Quiz That Celebrates Fun and Inclusion

October 22

The SPIKES Club from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MBU organized an exciting event called CINEMANIA (Movie Quiz) on 22nd October 2025 in the Mini Auditorium from2:00 PM to 4:00PM. The event brought together students from various departments for a lively and engaging quiz session cantered on popular movies and cinematic knowledge.

The main goal of CINEMANIA was to create a fun and inclusive learning experience that encouraged students to think quickly, observe carefully, and recall information under pressure. It aimed to sharpen their audio-visual literacy using clues like movie stills, soundtracks, dialogues, and logos. The event also focused on building confidence in public speaking and promoting healthy interaction across departments.

The event was coordinated by Dr. G. Harikrishnan, Associate Professor, who guided the student organizers throughout the planning and execution. A total of 50 students participated in the quiz, each competing individually. The participants showed great enthusiasm and performed impressively across all rounds, demonstrating quick thinking and strong recall skills.

CINEMANIA was structured into three exciting rounds. The first round, Visual Clues, challenged students to identify movies and characters from posters and stills. The second round, Audio Mania, tested their ability to recognize theme music, dialogues, and background scores. The final round was a Rapid-Fire session that pushed participants to think fast and answer under time pressure. The quiz was conducted using digital displays and high-quality audio systems to ensure a smooth experience for everyone.

Participants gained several valuable takeaways from the event. They improved their ability to process information quickly, enhanced their stage presence, and learned to stay composed under pressure. The event also helped build a sense of community and camaraderie among students from different departments.

At the end of the session, the organizers expressed heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their active involvement and positive energy. The SPIKES Club appreciated the support from faculty and students and looking forward to hosting more such engaging and inclusive events in the future.
