The Plant Health Club of MBU conducted a quiz titled Pests and Pathogens: A Plant Health on April 29 from 4pm to 5pm at the School of Agricultural Science. The quiz was designed to enhance undergraduate students’ knowledge of plant health, focusing on pest identification, disease symptoms, and control methods. Through interactive learning, the participants engaged in critical thinking, practical awareness, and exam preparation while fostering engagement and curiosity for sustainable agriculture.
The quiz was designed to be both informative and engaging, featuring multiple-choice questions, image-based identification, and situational problem-solving. It was structured to test students’ theoretical understanding and application of plant health concepts.
The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. P. Maheswara Reddy and Dr. M. Kasi Rao, who ensured a smooth execution and effective learning experience for all participants. A total of 90 students participated in this quiz competing in four groups, making the activity both educational and enjoyable.
The quiz proved to be an effective tool for reinforcing students’ understanding of pests and pathogens while making learning engaging and application-oriented. It also prepared them for future roles in research, agricultural extension, and sustainable farming practices. Given the enthusiastic participation and positive reception, similar interactive learning activities could be introduced in the future to further enhance agricultural education.
A well-structured quiz on pests and pathogens is a great way to reinforce learning while keeping students engaged. By encouraging critical thinking and interactive participation, this activity not only strengthens theoretical concepts but also helps students develop practical awareness of plant health management.
The organizers and students extended their congratulations to the winners — Hema Sree for securing the first prize, P. Kalyani for second place, and Pavitra for third. Their accomplishments exemplify the dedication and enthusiasm fostered within this academic environment.
